Moda Preview: Curvy Kate SS16

Next up, Curvy Kate! The mouthwatering Curvy Kate SS16 collection is bursting with shades of melon orange, fuschia pink, apple green, pacific blue, berry red and rich copper.

Curvy Kate Kitty Longline Babydoll Black Copper Full

Curvy Kate Kitty Bra Black Copper

Starting with what I found to be one of the most exciting pieces of the collection, the Kitty! Kitty is a new style based on the older Temptress, available as both a padded plunge bra and a babydoll. The babydoll has a padded plunge longline base, which means it will highlight your waist beautifully, and I am personally so looking forward to trying this out! Available in 30-40 D-J.

Curvy Kate Ritzy Bra Black Copper

A new colourway of a now-classic, the delectable Ritzy in Black/Copper. Available in 28-38 D-J.

Curvy Kate Cabaret Set Black

Curvy Kate Cabaret Black

A new style, the Cabaret, a flirtatious sheer unpadded plunge in black, with eyecatching fuschia pink detailing. Available in 28-38 D-J.

Curvy Kate Tease Bra Black Berry

Curvy Kate Tease Camisole Black Berry

Another much loved style, the Tease in Black/Berry. This is very similar to the Black/Scarlet colourway from a year or two ago, however, it is now available in a wonderfully flirty camisole as well as the standard balcony, while the recent size expansion means this will be available in a full range of 28-38 D-J.

Curvy Kate Bardot Berry copper

Something a bit more colourful, the Bardot in Berry/Copper. This is the first colourway of the Bardot that isn’t black, and I personally love the deep, cool red set off with rich copper detailing. Available in 28-40 D-K. Additionally, all of the styles above will be available from December, so they’ll be out just in time for Christmas 😉

Curvy Kate Dreamcatcher Melon Apple

Curvy Kate Atomic Melon

Onto the more colourful side of things! Curvy Kate are getting in on the orange trend big time, starting with the Dreamcatcher in Melon/Apple (picture 1; 28-40 D-K, 42-44 D-G) and the new Atomic in Melon, an unpadded plunge with popping fuschia pink embroidery (picture 2; 28-38 D-J).

Curvy Kate Smoothie Prowl Fuschia Full

Curvy Kate Portia Fuschia Full

Curvy Kate Vixen Fuschia

Another huge trend for SS16 is bright pink (especially when combined with the aforementioned orange), which Curvy Kate are going for with the Smoothie Prowl (pictures 1-2; 28-38 bands and D-J cups), Portia (picture 3; 28-40 D-K), and another new style, Vixen (picture 4; 28-40 D-J), all in Fuschia. The Vixen is a retro-inspired balcony bra with three-part cup and partial band. This has a lovely matching brazilian brief, and apparently it gives a great shape, so I’m pretty interested to see how people find this!

Curvy Kate Princess Apple

Curvy Kate Daily Dream Apple Dot Full

Another strong colour of the collection, sweet-as-pie apple green, shown on the Princess in Apple (picture 1) and another of my favourites, the Daily Dream in Apple Dot (pictures 2-3). The Daily Dream is a replacement for the Daily Boost (first released for AW15 in basic continuity colours), using Curvy Kate’s new upfront engineering. This style should give lots more support and shaping, and this delectable polka dot colourway means I am definitely going to have to try it out! Both styles available in 28-40 D-K, 42-44 D-G.

Curvy Kate Florence Set Pacific Blue

Curvy Kate Cascade Pacific Blue

Another popular colour is this soothing sea blue, with these new Pacific Blue colourways for the Florence (pictures 1-2; 30-40 D-J) and Cascade (picture 3; 28-40 D-K, 42-44 D-G). The lattice printed Cascade with contrasting orange embroidery is an interesting yet eye-grabbing combination, one which is sure to divide opinion!

Curvy Kate Ellace Black Champagne Set

Curvy Kate Ellace White

Finally, something a little more basic, the Ellace will be available in a new White colourway from December (picture 2), along with the current colourway of Black/Champagne (picture 1). I love the white and peach colour combination, and as a balconette with stretch lace upper, this is a bra I’m definitely excited about. Available in 28-40 D-K, 42-44 D-G.

There will also be a Curvy Kate Swim collection, primarily featuring shades of saffron red, sea blue and coral. One style I don’t have photographs of is the Luau Love, a current style which will be available in the same pacific blue colour as many of the styles below.

Curvy Kate Swim Siren Coral With Straps And Strapless

One exciting style, the Siren in Coral! This is Curvy Kate’s first swimsuit, and I am personally a huge fan! This delectable swimsuit features clever panelling, gorgeous shell detailing, and (incredibly) it can be worn strapless. Available as a padded plunge (28-40 D-J), a swimsuit and a bandeau (both 28-38 bands and D-J cups).

Curvy Kate Swim Bon Voyage Padded Balconette and Tie-Side Saffron

Curvy Kate Swim Bon Voyage Halterneck Saffron

The Bon Voyage in Saffron. The colours have come out slightly off here due to the lighting – this should be more of a coral than a bright orange, closer to the colour shown on the tie-side briefs (picture 1). Available as a padded balconette bikini and tankini (30-40 D-K), and an unpadded halterneck bikini (28-38 bands and D-J cups).

Curvy Kate Swim Casablanca Padded Plunge Saffron

Curvy Kate Swim Casablanca Padded Plunge and Halterneck Tankini Saffron

A very retro Moroccan-inspired style, the Casablanca in Saffron. Available as a padded balconette bikini (30-40 D-K), a padded plunge bikini (28-40 D-J) and an unpadded tankini (28-38 bands and D-J cups). I’m not a huge fan of this personally, though there is an matching skirted brief featuring a yellow ruffle trim which I think is pretty adorable.

Curvy Kate Swim Aloha Bandeau and Skirted Brief Seafoam

Curvy Kate Swim Aloha Padded Plunge and Bandeau Seafoam

Curvy Kate Swim Aloha Skirted Brief Seafoam

Another very 60s/70s style, the Aloha in Seafoam, a pale aqua blue with a contrasting floral print in red, burgundy and white. Again this isn’t very much my style personally, but 60s/70s prints are going to be very in trend for SS16, so I’m sure this will appeal to a lot of people! Available as a padded balconette tankini (30-40 D-K), padded plunge bikini (28-40 D-J0 and a bandeau bikini (28-38 bands and D-J cups).

Curvy Kate Swim Instinct Padded Balcony Deep Sea

Curvy Kate Swim Instinct Halterneck Deep Sea

One of the most popular styles of the collection, the Instinct in Deep Sea, an abstract print featuring bright highlights of coral and white. Available as an unpadded halterneck bikini (28-38 bands and D-J cups), a tankini and padded balconette bikini (both 30-40 D-K).

Curvy Kate Swim Atlantis Halterneck Plunge and High Waist Brief Deep Sea

Curvy Kate Swim Atlantis Halterneck Plunge Tankini Deep Sea

Curvy Kate Swim Atlantis Briefs Deep Sea

Curvy Kate Swim Atlantis Padded Plunge and Halterneck Deep Sea

Finally, my absolute favourite swimwear style of possibly any collection we saw, the stunning Atlantis in Deep Sea. This features an absolutely breathtaking mermaid print in shades of aqua, pacific blue and white, and I can’t put into words how much I need it – I mean, have you seen those high waist briefs?! Available as a padded balconette bikini (30-40 D-K), a halterneck padded plunge bikini, and a halterneck padded plunge tankini (both 28-40 D-J).

So, that’s the whole collection! Overall I think Curvy Kate have done a fantastic job of creating a beautifully cohesive collection, and there are definitely some very exciting pieces in here. I love that Curvy Kate are continuing to develop new cuts, with the range of styles meaning that there should be something for everyone – from dark and sultry to youthful and sweet, and from sleek basics to fun and flirty.

What do you think of the collection? Any favourite styles? Any not-so-favourite styles? Let me know any thoughts in the comments below!

  1. Do you know if the Cabaret is sheer past a G cup? As I have found bigger cups have extra opaque material on the bottom which ruins the whole point for me.
