Next up, Fantasie! Fantasie has a slightly more mature and sophisticated aesthetic than Freya, with the Fantasie AW16 collection primarily featuring shades of navy blue, teal, pomegranate and ivory, with accents of white, gold and silver.
Fantasie Sofia Padded Half Cup Bra and Waspie in Black (30 D-G, 32-38 C-G & S-XL; Side Support Bra also available in sizes 30-36 D-HH, 38 D-H, 40 D-FF) ; Fantasie Natasha Plunge Balcony Bra in Black (30 D-G, 32-38 C-G)
First up, the Sofia and Natasha! These are both new styles, featuring a black base with gold and silver embroidery, but with a very different overall look! The Sofia is an incredibly beautiful, luxurious style, with an option for a coordinating waspie suspender, something I’m very pleased about! Matching suspenders seem to be far and few between in the full-bust world, so I’m always excited to see more options including them on the market. The Natasha features leopard embroidery; leopard print is often seen as being trashy or overtly sexy, but I think this embroidered approach to leopard lingerie gives a sophisticated edge to the style.
Fantasie Isabella Padded Half Cup Bra in Shadow (30 D-G, 32-38 C-G; Side Support Bra also available in sizes 30-38 D-H, 40 DD-G, 42 DD-F) ; Fantasie Isabella Strapless Basque in Shadow (30-38 D-G)
Another gorgeously sophisticated style, the Isabella. Monochrome is always in style, but I feel like it’s definitely popping up a lot more this season. It’s usually used in sleek, geometric styles, so I think this lacy piece is a really nice choice.
Fantasie Jacqueline Full Cup Bra with Side Support in White (30-38 D-H, 40 D-FF) ; Fantasie Kimberley Side Support Bra in White (30-38 D-J, 40 D-FF)
We see more white used in the Jacqueline (new continuity, joining the current beige and black colourways) and Kimberley. The Kimberley seems similar to the older Alicia style, instead featuring a gorgeous autumnal print of tree branches and small flowers. I love the colours used here – the pops of soft, pinky orange set against the cool brown and green, the stark white base…it’s a truly beautiful combination.
Fantasie Alex Side Support Bra in Pomegranate (30-38 D-J, 40-42 D-FF) ; Fantasie Francesca Vertical Seam Bra in Strawberry (30 D-G, 32-36 C-G, 38 C-FF; Side Support Bra available in 30-38 D-GG, 40 D-FF, Longline Bra available in 30 D-G, 32-38 C-G) ; Fantasie Estelle Side Support Bra in Red (30-38 D-J, 40 D-G, 42 DD-F)
We have more warm shades throughout the Alex, Francesca and Estelle. The Alex uses a similar orange/pink shade to the Kimberley, while the Francesca is a very sweet, strawberry pink (much lighter and pinker than it looks here, almost bubblegum pink). Finally, the Alex is a new side support style in a rich shade of red, featuring all over embroidery and a sheer upper cup.
Fantasie Grace Full Cup Bra in Blackberry (30-38 C-G, 40-42 C-E) ; Fantasie Darcie Side Support Bra in Ink (30-38 D-H, 40 D-FF; Plunge Bra also available in 30 D-G, 32-38 C-G) ; Fantasie Jacqueline Lace Full Cup Bra with Side Support in Navy (30-38 D-H, 40 D-FF) ; Fantasie Amelie Side Support Bra in Navy (30-38 D-H, 40 D-FF)
Inky shades are popular, used in the deep blackberry Grace, the eyecatching Darcie, the simple Jacqueline Lace, and the dreamy Amelie. Of these, I absolutely adore the Darcie – the complementary colours of the navy blue and vivid orange really pop, resulting in a really beautiful piece.
Fantasie Zoe Side Support Bra in Smokey Blue (30-38 D-J, 40-42 D-FF; Moulded Plunge Balcony also available in sizes 30 DD-G, 32 D-G, 34-36 C-G, 38 C-FF, 40 D-F)
The blue shades continue onto the Zoe, which will be available in this lighter, dusky sky blue. I think this is a very delicate, soft shade, which makes a nice change compared to the various bolder styles we usually see throughout Autumn/Winter.
Fantasie Rebecca Spacer Moulded Full Cup in Lagoon (pictures 1-2; 30-34 D-H, 36 D-GG, 38 D-G, 40 D-FF) ; Fantasie Marianna Side Support Plunge Bra in Emerald (pictures 2-3; 30-32 D-GG, 34-36 C-GG, 38 C-G, 40 D-FF; Padded Half Cup also available in 30 D-G, 32-38 C-G)
Two pieces I personally loved, the Rebecca and Marianna. Teal is one of my favourite colours for lingerie, so I’m definitely a fan of these two! Marianna is described as emerald, but I would definitely say it’s closer to teal than a true emerald green – they’re definitely more vibrant and less desaturated than they look here.
Fantasie Allegra Vertical Seam Bra (30 D-G, 32-36 C-G, 38 C-FF; Side Support Bra also available in 30-38 D-GG, 40 D-FF) and Hipster Brief (XS-XXL) in Silver ; Fantasie Caroline Side Support Bra in Pink Haze (30-38 D-J, 40 D-FF; Plunge Bra also available in 30 D-G, 32-38 C-G)
Shades of silvery grey are everywhere this season, and Fantasie are joining this trend with the Allegra and Caroline. I already loved the Allegra, but this colourway is a total dream! One thing that’s changed this season is that the briefs have been redesigned to feature much more of the same swirling embroidery from the bra, which I think is unbelievably beautiful, and makes them a much worthier addition to the set!
Fantasie Zoe Side Support Bra (30-38 D-J, 40-42 D-FF; Moulded Plunge Balcony also available in sizes 30 DD-G, 32 D-G, 34-36 C-G, 38 C-FF, 40 D-F) and Brief (XS-XXL) in Petal ; Fantasie Jacqueline Lace Full Cup Bra with Side Support in Soft Beige (30-38 D-H, 40 D-FF) ; Fantasie Sofia Side Support Bra in Ivory (30 D-G, 32-38 C-G & S-XL; Side Support Bra also available in sizes 30-36 D-HH, 38 D-H, 40 D-FF)
Finally, there are some new neutral options in the Zoe, Jacqueline Lace and Sofia. The Zoe in petal is a new continuity colourway, joining the current black and soft beige colourways. There is also an ivory colourway for the Sofia (shown in black above), which I think is absolutely stunning! The ivory shade with white and gold embroidery, the delicate sheer section along the top edge of the cup…this style is just a dream.
There are also some new options in the Fantasie Swim collection! The Fantasie Swim AW16 collection primarily features tropical florals and patterns in shades of cobalt blue, red, black and white.
Fantasie Swim Calabria Cross Front Suit (32 D-GG, 34-38 D-H, 40 D-GG; Asymmetric Suit also available in 32-38 D-GG), Twist Bandeau Bikini (30-38 D-G; Padded Bikini available in 32-38 D-GG, 40 D-G, Full Cup Bikini available in 30 D-H, 32-38 D-J, 40 D-GG) and Brief (XS-XXL) ; Fantasie Swim Monaco Tankini (32-36 D-GG, 38 D-G; Soft Cup Suit available in 32-40 D-FF), Lightly Padded Balcony Bikini (32-36 D-H, 38 D-GG, 40 D-G; Bandeau Bikini available in 30-38 D-G) and Low Rise Brief (XS-XL) in Stardust
First up are the Calabria and Monaco styles! The Calabria is a very flamboyant, eyecatching style, featuring a tropical floral print in shades of black, white, yellow and cobalt blue. In comparison, the Monaco is a fairly minimal style, featuring a textured black base with smooth gold trims.
Fantasie Swim Cocoa Island Bandeau Bikini (picture 1; 32-38 D-G) and Plunge Balcony Bikini (picture 2; 30-40 D-G) in Black ; Fantasie Swim Cocoa Island Bikini Briefs Varieties (High Waist S-XXL, Mid Rise XS-XXL, Reversible Low Rise XS-XL) ; Fantasie Swim Cocoa Island High Neck Suit (picture 4; 32-38 D-G), Convertible Halter Bikini (picture 4; 30-36 D-J, 38 D-G; Bandeau Bikini also available in 32-38 D-G) and Low Rise Brief (XS-XL) in White
A new fashion style, the Cocoa Island. This monochrome style features tropical florals and leaves, in two colourways of black and white. With four bikinis, three swimsuits, four briefs and a tunic dress available, this range is a great choice if you like to mix and match your pieces. Another thing I did like was the option for a reversible brief, which means you can either mix up your look with the same bikini, or have a matching brief for multiple bikini options.
Fantasie Swim Los Cabos Bandeau Flare Tankini (32-38 D-G; Wrap Suit also available in 32-38 D-G, 40 D-F), Twist Front Full Cup Bikini (32-40 D-GG; Triangle Bikini also available in 32-38 D-FF) and Gathered Brief (XS-XXL) in Cobalt Blue ; Fantasie Swim Aveiro Tankini (32-38 D-H, 40 D-GG; Bandeau Bikini also available in 32-40 D-G), Lightly Padded Bikini (32-36 D-H, 38 D-GG, 40 D-G) and Full Cup Bikini (30 D-GG, 32-38 D-H, 40 D-GG; Bandeau Bikini also available in 32-38 D-G) in Cobalt ; Fantasie Swim Aveiro Tie Side Brief (XS-XXL) and Mid Rise Brief (XS-XL) in Cobalt
The Los Cabos and Aveiro are two more styles which can be mixed and matched, featuring a bright shade of cobalt blue. While the Los Cabos is a simple block colour, the Aveiro takes inspiration from Portugal, featuring a beachy, tie dye-esque print in cobalt, sunny orange, black and white.
Fantasie Swim Mahé Plunge Swimsuit (32-40 D-G; V-Neck Swimsuit available in 34-40 D-J, 42-44 D-FF, Halter Tankini available in 32-38 D-H), Full Cup Bikini (30 D-GG, 32-38 D-J, 40 D-GG; Padded Balcony Bikini available in 32-36 D-H, 38 D-GG, 40 D-G, Bandeau Bikini available in 32-38 D-G) and Mid Rise Brief (XS-XXL) in Multi
Finally, the Mahé! This is another gorgeously tropical style, featuring vivacious shades of sky blue, candy pink and grassy green over a black base. The colours of this are absolutely gorgeous, and I love the almost oil-painted effect used for the print.
So, that’s the full collection! Overall I think this is a fairly strong collection from Fantasie. There are some pieces I’m not sure about (such as the Amelie and Caroline), but there are definitely more gorgeous pieces than not – Sofia, Isabella, Kimberley and Allegra are all definite standouts for me! My main criticism of this collection is that once again, despite the front cover of the catalogue stating that they go up to a K cup, there are no styles available in this size. Apparently most J-K cups tend to go to Freya’s collections rather than Fantasie’s, which I think is understandable and I have no problem with, but I do feel that if Fantasie aren’t going to produce K cups (which they haven’t for over two years now), they shouldn’t advertise themselves as being a K cup brand.
What do you think of the Fantasie AW16 collection? Any favourite pieces? Any not-so-favourite pieces? Do you wish Fantasie would produce K cups again, or are you happy with Freya’s? Let me know any thoughts in the comments below!
