Nude Bras for Women of Colour in AW16

Hello lovelies! I’m fresh back from Moda and ready to share sneak peeks of what’s coming next year – but first! I noticed at Moda that once again, the number of brown bras is on the rise, which is great news for women of colour looking for nude bras. I wrote about all of the nude bras available from full-bust brands for the SS16 season earlier this year, and I thought now would be a good time to do the same thing for the current AW16 season. So, here’s what’s available now!

Parfait Charlotte in Bronze - Nude Bras for WOC

First up, the Parfait Charlotte in Bronze, available soon in 28-40 D-K! I admit, the black piping means it won’t be a perfect nude bra, but I am very glad to finally see a darker shade join this bra’s classic nude-based shades of Peach and Dusty Rose. Moda Preview: Rochella AW16

My last preview of the season is going to be Rochella! I actually didn’t get a chance to visit Rochella at the SIL, so I instead decided to pop into last week’s Moda show to see them. So, this is going to be my only Moda preview for this season! After looking through Rochella’s SS16 launch collection, I also got a sneak peek at what’s to come next season. All of the lovely details Rochella used in SS16 return again, with all of these pieces featuring high quality Italian satin, 18ct gold plated hardware, soft lavender linings, and beautiful embroidery. And, as always, Rochella will be donating a percentage of all profits to The Eve Appeal. So, here’s Rochella AW16!

Rochella Vintage Floral Bra and Brief

First up is this surprisingly Spring-esque piece, the Vintage Floral. This is the lightest piece of the collection, featuring a duck egg blue base with a delicate pink floral. Like many of the styles in the SS16 collection, the upper cup appears to be sheer illusion net, which should become invisible against all skin tones. SIL Preview: Elomi AW16

The last Wacoal Eveden brand I’ll be covering is Elomi! I usually preview Elomi and Goddess together, however, this preview will mostly be of Elomi, as for some reason there was only one Goddess style available for me to look at. I’m not sure if the other samples were being shown elsewhere, or if Goddess are primarily focussing on continuity styles rather than fashion styles at the moment, but it’s something to keep in mind for this preview. The Elomi AW16 collection primarily features shades of teal, bright blue, red, brown and black, with pops of silver, pink and white.

Teal is a strong colour for this season, as shown in the Bijou and Portia. Let me start this preview by saying that this Bijou longline is quite possibly the prettiest style from Elomi I have ever seen. Look at it!!! The rich teal colour, the bold black piping above the cups, the scalloped lace overlay, it is just perfection. I also really liked the Portia – on first glance, the print looks almost like stained glass windows, but when looking closer, the details of the butterfly print really come out.

SIL Preview: Fantasie AW16 (Including Fantasie Swim)

Next up, Fantasie! Fantasie has a slightly more mature and sophisticated aesthetic than Freya, with the Fantasie AW16 collection primarily featuring shades of navy blue, teal, pomegranate and ivory, with accents of white, gold and silver.

First up, the Sofia and Natasha! These are both new styles, featuring a black base with gold and silver embroidery, but with a very different overall look! The Sofia is an incredibly beautiful, luxurious style, with an option for a coordinating waspie suspender, something I’m very pleased about! Matching suspenders seem to be far and few between in the full-bust world, so I’m always excited to see more options including them on the market. The Natasha features leopard embroidery; leopard print is often seen as being trashy or overtly sexy, but I think this embroidered approach to leopard lingerie gives a sophisticated edge to the style.

SIL Preview: Freya AW16 (Including Freya Active & Freya Swim)

Today is going to be my last day of AW16 previews, and the last set of brands to cover is the Wacoal Eveden group! Wacoal Eveden produce some of the best known brands in the lingerie world, managing Fantasie, Freya, Huit, Wacoal, b.tempt’d, Elomi and Goddess. I’ll be sticking to the full-bust brands, starting with Freya! The Freya AW16 collection primarily features shades of electric and navy blue, lime yellow, orchid purple and chilli red.

One of my favourite styles of the collection, the Pin Up! This is an incredibly gorgeous retro style, featuring a leopard print base with lime yellow highlights, black satin piping and panelling.
