Feeling Tropical in Maison Lejaby Theodora

Earlier in the year I was contacted by Maison Lejaby about reviewing one of their pieces, and though I wasn’t familiar with the brand, I quickly had a look around their website and gladly accepted! Maison Lejaby is a French brand that has been around since the 1930’s, offering some absolutely divine pieces! They asked me which pieces I liked the look of and I found it really hard to choose. I eventually picked out the Theodora, Illusion, and Hanae styles, and I was thrilled when I received not one, not two, but three different sets! The first set that I received was the Theodora Unpadded Balconette Bra in Tropical with the regular matching briefs. I’m not usually a fan of orange-anything really, but this is an exception – I think this set is absolutely stunning!

I received the set in sizes 80F (30F) and Size 2 (Small) briefs. They use French sizing, so it took me a while to figure out which size I should go for, but I figured it out eventually! Continue reading

Reinventing the Classics with Gossard

Editor’s note: Today’s review will be of the Gossard “Gypsy” set. While I understand that this set is a remake of a set made in the 1980s and is named as such, it would be extremely ignorant of me not to point out that G**** is a racial slur, still used against Rromani people today. It is not a synonym for bohemian, free spirit, hippie or anything like that, and to use it as a bra name is very trivialising of the Rromani experience. For this reason, the bra will be simply referred to as “G” throughout this review.

As you may know I recently received the Gossard Desire set (which I previously reviewed here), and I surprisingly received a second set, which was the Gossard G Non Padded Bra in Caramel with the matching Deep Short. The G is one of Gossard‘s iconic styles, originally introduced in the 80’s as the bra that “made men faint”. It’s been out of production for a while, but a few months ago, the style was modernised and re-released as a non-padded bra, padded bra and basque, in two continuity colourways of black and caramel.

My usual size is a 28G, but as always Gossard’s bands start at 30, and as I had heard this particular bra runs a little big, I decided to try out a 30F with XS briefs. Usually, the type of bras I go for are padded plunge sets (as I have quite close-set breasts I find the low gores work best for me) – but I unexpectedly love this non-padded bra! Go Retro with Gossard

When I was contacted about reviewing one of Gossard’s sets, I received the Gossard Summer Plunge set (which I previously reviewed here), and I also surprisingly received a second set, which was the Gossard Retrolution Half-Padded Bra in Black with matching briefs (part of their ‘VIP Lingerie’ range). I usually wear a 28G, but as Gossard start at a 30 band, I decided to try out a 30FF with XS briefs. When I took my first look at this set I wasn’t too sure about it, but I swiftly changed my mind. As someone who has a relatively accessible cup size I find the majority of bras in my size range give a fairly rounded shape, which was my main reason for doubting this bra – the ‘Retrolution Half-Padded Bra’ is pointy.

At first I was a little uncomfortable at the thought of a pointy bra, but upon trying it on my opinion slowly changed. While looking in the mirror I felt like a gorgeous vintage model and I just wanted to pin curl my hair, dance around to swing jazz and apply my favourite red lipstick! Continue reading

Spring into Summer with Gossard

I have been speaking to a possible columnist/guest poster for a while, and when I was contacted by Gossard asking if I would like to review something of theirs, it seemed like a great opportunity for her first post. Hopefully this will be the first post of many, so give a warm welcome to Rachael.

I had strangely never heard of the Gossard brand before (and therefore had never owned one of their pieces), so when I was contacted about reviewing one of their sets I had a little mooch on their website and gladly accepted! My current size is a 28G so I decided to try out a 30FF (as they don’t go down to 28 bands) and XS briefs. I was extremely pleased to find one of the sets they sent me was the Gossard Summer Plunge and matching thong – I hadn’t seen any pictures of this bra anywhere, so it was a lovely surprise to get a first look at it.
