Today’s post is going to be something of a first! When Gossard kindly sent me the Iris set to review, they also offered to send across the Desire collection, an absolutely beautiful style which has been on my mind ever since I saw it at Moda back in February. However, as the bra is not available in my size, Rachael and I decided that today, we would review the collection together.
The line includes a longline plunge bra, a high-waisted suspender brief, a brazilian suspender brief, and an unbelievably stunning sheer bodysuit. Let’s start with Rachael’s review!
It’s been quite a while since I last guest posted, so if you don’t know me, hello I’m Rachael! I received the Gossard Desire Plunge Bustier Bra with the matching Deep Short Suspender (part of their ‘VIP Lingerie’ range). I usually wear a 28G, but as Gossard start at a 30 band, I decided to try out the 30FF with XS briefs.
I’ve never owned a longline bra before and rarely see ones in my size; so when I first saw this set I fell in love, and I knew I had to have it. I was so excited when the package arrived, I stripped off to try it on immediately! I knew I liked the design, but I didn’t think I’d like it this much.
The bra itself looks mainly black, though the actual cups are a blush-nude shade with black mesh and eyelash lace laid over the top, joined with contrasting black seams. Below the cups has mostly black lace over further mesh in the same blush-nude tone, on the gore sits a small netted chiffon bow with black diamante detailing, and just below lies a strip of black mesh.
I really love this bra. Visually it is gorgeous, and the longline style is a fabulous change from the rest of my bras – I’ve worn it out as a crop top a few times and gotten many compliments on it!
The fully-adjustable straps are ruched which looks quite elegant, but luckily the underside is soft for comfort (and to not leave you with bizarre markings!), and all the hardware is a beautiful rose gold shade. The cups seem average width and depth, and as it is a plunge, it has a fairly low gore.
When checking the measurements, I found it to be quite stretchy for a new bra. Laid flat the band measures 26 inches, with a stretched measurement of 31 inches. In this size, the Desire fastens with seven sets of hooks and eyes.
I find the band still feels quite firm and stays in place fairly well, which I think is due to how deep the band is. As I mentioned previously I usually wear a 28 band, so if they were available I would’ve liked to test one out.
The matching briefs are equally as beautiful as the bra, and the XS size sits comfortably on my 37 inch hips. They’re very high waisted, mainly black mesh with lace panels, and in the centre front sits another cute black and diamante bow.
The lace panels of the briefs have no mesh underlay, which could look a little bizarre if your skin tone is very different from the bra’s underlaying blush fabric. They also have detachable suspenders for versatility.
I think the cups of this bra run somewhat small as I get a small amount of overspill, but it isn’t too noticeable. I believe with this style of bra a little extra cleavage doesn’t hurt, though some people may prefer going a cup-size up with this bra.
If you’d like another opinion on this set, feel free to check out this review of the Desire set by Two Cakes on a Plate. Personally, overall, I am again extremely pleased to own this Gossard set, and am excited to try out more of their other sets in the near future (as they’ve not disappointed me as of yet)!
And now onto my review! As you might have guessed from the above pictures, Gossard were kind enough to let me try out the delectable bodysuit. I’ve been longing for this piece ever since I first laid eyes on it at Moda back in February, and I’m a little bit in awe that I finally have my hands on it! I’ve modelled this piece without a bra, but I have included a few quick pictures of how it looks with a bra underneath further down the page.
This is the Gossard Desire VIP Soft Body, which I opted to try in a size 14. My current measurements are approximately 44-31-43, and I think this size was the right choice for me! The bodysuit features a dramatic plunging neckline at the front and back, elegant lace panels at the hips, and delicate cap sleeves at the shoulder, all of which are details I absolutely love.
The bodysuit features many similar design features to the bra set, and I think it’s easy to see that they are sister pieces. Like the bra, there is a small bow with a diamante at the centre of the bust, and it features the same sheer black mesh, panels of eyelash lace, and bold black seams. The gusset features two sets of poppers, which is very practical if you need to use the toilet, but also gives a bit more leeway for longer and shorter bodies.
Obviously as an unpadded, unwired piece, I didn’t expect any support from this piece! However, I was happy to find that the bodysuit still covers my bust well enough. I personally find I have fairly low coverage and the armholes are slightly pulled forward, so I imagine someone with a smaller bust would find the neckline sits a bit higher.
I absolutely adore the back of this bodysuit! The mesh is double panelled around the rear, which I find emphasises my curves nicely, and I think also adds a bit more mystery to an otherwise-revealing bodysuit. Like the bust, the top half is made with the same beautiful lace, plunging down from the shoulders to give a tantalising open back.
I personally find the materials of the bodysuit to be soft and lovely against the skin, with no hint of itchiness or digging in. The whole bodysuit has a gentle stretch to it, which is both very comfortable and gives a little wiggle room in terms of sizing. Obviously when braless, my bust puts a lot of weight on the shoulders, which means this does get uncomfortable if I wear it like this for a long time. However, this is obviously not a fault of the bodysuit, and for most occasions, I would personally prefer to wear a bra underneath anyway.
The bodysuit fastens with a zip at the back, which ends around underbust level. I think the zip ending below the bust is partly what makes this style so flexible in terms of bust size, as there is less pull from the back to restrict the bust. This of course comes at the price of support, but when it comes to aesthetics, I think this is a good choice.
Apologies for the awful photo quality, but of course, I had to see how well this could be adapted as outerwear! I find this piece much harder to dress down than some of my other pieces, so I’ve gone for a more formal look with a wine maxi skirt and some black heels. I’m wearing the bodysuit here over my Comexim Basic in Beige, which I find pretty much disappears under this, and manages not to peek out of the neckline!
How can I summarise this review? I am honestly just so in love with this bodysuit. The fabrics are so soft and light, it’s unbelievably beautiful, and I think it’s a very versatile piece – equal parts sexy and elegant, this bodysuit would be perfect for both bedroom and formal wear, and I’m sure other (more imaginative!) people will be able to find plenty of ways to style it. As far as bodysuits go, this is definitely one of the most beautiful ones I’ve seen, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone currently considering trying it out themselves!

I love this set and your review! What haaaawwwt babes 😉
Hi Anna. Great review, lovely pieces; really appreciate the hard work you put into your blog. I have to say that some of these pictures go to far for me, and specifically the picture of Rachael masturbating or like offering her butt to the air or whatever she’s doing. Obviously underwear is inherently sexual, but I look at bra reviews to learn about bras, not to feel like i’m inadvertently perving on a 19-year-old. Appreciate you but will not be visiting anymore.
Hi Mel, thanks for your comment. I’ve taken a little time to respond to this as I haven’t quite known how to reply. First of all, I feel I should note that I strongly disagree that underwear is “inherently sexual”, which is something I’ve spoken about in many places in the past. Underwear can be sexual, sure, but it isn’t automatically so, and I personally am a huge advocate for wearing what you want to wear, first and foremost because it makes you feel good.
Saying that, this is a sexy set, and obviously some of the photos have a more sensual tone to match the mood given by the set. I can assure you that Rachael is not masturbating – for one thing her arms are under her chest/shoulders – she is simply arching her back in a way she thought looked flattering. People have different preferences about their own appearance, particularly when it comes to putting themselves out there in such a personal manner, so I do not personally think it is any of my business to tell someone they cannot pose in the way they find comfortable, or that they cannot showcase the piece they’re reviewing in the manner they see fit.
Thank you again for taking the time for comment, and best of luck for the future.
Those pieces look stunning on you girls! <3
The body is amazing and the back…gosh, so beautiful! <3 Truly tempting!
As for the bralet set, it's amazing! I've seen it on 2 cakes on a plate and I just love it even more after seeing it in Rachael, which is close to my size!
